What did you do this past week?

I finished and submitted the Collatz project, I read pair programming paper, and I started working on the Voting project with my partner. Also, I was working on cooprative threads project for my CS439 and finally I could pass all given tests.

What’s in your way?

Mostly, school work that includes planning out an efficient way to implement the Voting project before start doing the actual coding.

What will you do next week?

Finishing the Voting project with my partner, read the next paper, and do the next blog. Also, I have to educate myself about the next project in CS439 that many students considered to be a difficult project. Lastly, I will apply for more internships for next year.

What was your experience of exceptions, voting, and strcmp?

I really haven’t use exceptions before; however, I have seen it in many places and espacially while doing IOS development when I’m trying to implement some SDKs and then looking through their code. I’m not familiar much with the Voting system that Dr. Downing talked about since it is different from where I’m from, but it was easy to understand it when Dr. Downing explained it. Strcmp was easy especially when doing it as a team, but it was not done in the way it should be or the same way the professor showed us later.

What made you happy this week?

After spending more than three months just testing, I finished the development of an automation tool that serves me a lot in the kind of work that I do. Now I’m happy that it is working for me at least and now the challenge that if I could extend it to some other industries.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is an app that was recently released called MoveIn that would let you as a resident of any apartment complex to match with someone who is trying to move into your apartment complex and therefore both of you would be able to split friend referral reward offered by the apartment complex. I found it interesting is because most apartment complexes offer that reward and the concept is a win-win-win for the resident, the new resident, and the property manager besides that the service is currently free as it is new.
